“Merry Christmas Norway”-Vår repeats last year’s celebration

Last year, the ravages of the coronavirus led to a different Christmas for many. One of those who Spoiling Christmas was the presenter of ‘Good morning Norway’, Vår Staude (56). When she tested positive for the virus just days before Christmas last year, all plans were suddenly brought to a halt.

Vår was looking forward to a pleasant Christmas with her husband and children, but instead had to sit alone in seclusion on the mountain. The family could not be together even on Christmas Eve.

– Due to the corona, we could not celebrate Christmas as we had expected for a long time, together with all the children. Instead, we sat here and there, separately, to avoid infecting each other. It was incredibly sad, recalls Staude.

Celebrate in the mountains

This year’s celebration will also be widespread. Daughters Malin (25) and Anniken (23) spend Christmas Eve in Bali, where the eldest works as a coach, while Vår, canoe partner Knut Holmann (54) and son Kasper (15) will celebrate with the sister of Vår Tone and his family in Skeikampen.

– It will be very cozy! We are not so picky about fixed rituals. The most important thing is to have fun, light lots of candles, eat self-shot deer and listen to gospel queen Mahalia Jackson. Let’s hope for lots of snow and good skiing, says the 56-year-old.

As the host of ‘Good morning Norway’, Vår is used to being at work before most others get up. She can’t sleep until Christmas either, but the TV profile is looking forward to hosting the “Merry Christmas Norway” morning broadcasts, which are shown on Little Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve.

– It will be a Christmas stocking full of great interviews, good food, great atmosphere, good music. We give rest to those who have finished their preparations, or a good friend who encourages you towards the goal while you iron, bake, decorate or wrap presents, smiles Vår.

It will spread joy

With her in the studio is her partner Peter Moi Bubresko (47), who can’t wait to spread Christmas cheer to thousands of homes.

– First of all, the goal is to give people the Christmas spirit, and I hope we can be good company for all those who are alone at Christmas, says Bubresko.

Bubresko is also looking forward to the Christmas broadcasts, but thinks it’s a bit sad to miss morning classes with his partner and children Marie and Sebastian, who turn six on Christmas Eve!

– A small part of the joy is that we have to work on Christmas Eve when my children have a birthday. They’ve gotten used to Dad occasionally leaving in the morning, but not being able to wake them up in bed on their birthday with cake and a song hurts a little, admits the father of two.

Not everything went to plan for Peter either during last year’s celebrations. When TV colleague Vår tested positive for the coronavirus, Bubresko immediately had to go into quarantine and was therefore unable to celebrate the children’s fifth birthday.

Fortunately, a few days later he tested negative and by Christmas Eve the family was back together again.

“It was Christmas, after all! I’ve already received all the gifts I need this year: I’m back with my family and received a negative response to the corona test,” wrote the presenter in a joyful update to her social media followers .

A little Christmas magic

This year, like last year, it’s obviously the little ones who are the focus on Christmas Eve, and Peter loves to see how the children’s faces light up with anticipation and joy.

– My goal is to create a safe and beautiful Christmas with a little magic, which children will hopefully remember fondly for the rest of their lives. The most important thing is to de-stress and enjoy a few lazy days together, says the TV profile.

This year the family will spend Christmas Eve together at home, but already the day after the trip they move on to warmer regions.

– We have to go to bed early on Christmas Eve, because the alarm goes off already at 4 in the morning on Christmas day. Then the plane leaves for Gran Canaria and a week of sun and heat awaits us.
