The world of beauty is constantly changing and can sometimes be very eclectic. When certain trends advocate a return to the short bob reminiscent of the years 1990-2000, others wear the majestic hair of sirens to the skies! And it seems that this latest trend is starting to seduce more and more people, especially the stars, many of whom are showing themselves with impressive lengths in life as on the red carpets.
On Instagram, the request #mermaidhair reached to date almost 3 million photos posted. An affluence which is reflected as well by clichés of hair with lengths sometimes going up to the calves as by divine waves.
How to embrace the trend mermaid hair ?
To have mermaid hair, you need hair as long as Rapunzel’s (well, maybe we overdo it, but almost). Which, we must admit, is clearly not the case for the majority of us. So how do you embrace this trend? Well we have the choice!
First there is the option hair extensions, the one that celebrities prefer to favor. They allow to obtain volume and length quickly; it is possible to clip them under the natural hair or to opt for the keratin which offers a more permanent result. An alternative which can be practical but which still has a cost, especially if we rely on natural hair.
Otherwise, we can simply achieve pretty waves on our natural hair, without having to add material. This solution allows us both to obtain volume but also to give movement to our mop, a bit like the beach waves, this beach effect hairstyle so trendy for several years now.
To find out how, the magazine Glamour UK asked the celebrity hairstylist and makeup artist Chris Georges his best techniques, and here is what he replied:
« To get the look, I use a flat iron a few inches from the top of the head and bend the hair in alternating directions. Remember you don’t want to drag the flat iron. Remove it from the hair before bending it in a new direction. This will make your mermaid waves last for the whole day. “
Advice that comes right on time with the imminent arrival (yes, it’s raining, so what?) Of summer!
