Ajax is interested in Sven Botman and wants to hold on to the central defender for a longer time. The stopper from Badhoevedorp, which is currently parked at sc Heerenveen, is still stationed in Amsterdam until mid-2022, but can count for one year.
Botman put himself in the spotlight on behalf of Heerenveen with Premier League-team Norwich City, but recently informed VoetbalPrimeur that he was talking to Ajax about a new commitment. Director of football affairs Marc Overmars is pleased with his developments and both parties have now agreed ‘in outline’, the player confirms to De Telegraaf. “I wanted to add if Ajax had a plan with me and that turned out to be”, it sounds.
When his loan is over, Botman can report to Amsterdam again and go for his chance in Ajax 1. Clubs like Norwich City will have to be patient. “Once in the Premier League there is a wish and England draws. But as a youth player of Ajax you actually only have one dream: to succeed in the ArenA.” Before the time comes, he can do a shot at the play-offs for European football with Heerenveen. “Quite a lot of people already asked me what I am going to do next season. Now they know: to Ajax. So the button can be completely switched to SC Heerenveen. That club deserves that.”
Since his loan, Botman has scored 27 official matches and two goals on behalf of Heerenveen. In the Eredivisie, he missed less than a minute.
