Maybach will soon celebrate its centenary, with a new V12 train model for customers.

The carmaker Merceces-Benz commemorated the approaching centenary of Maybach’s existence with a demonstration of a new flagship. The picture of the upcoming Mercedes-Maybach S-Class model is interesting for at least two reasons.
The first is the lower reflection of the new Maybach, in which we can see its ancestor. This is the Maybach W3 model, the brand’s first production model – sometimes also referred to as the Maybach 22/70 PS W3, which has been produced as the brand’s first production car since 1921.

The second attraction in the picture is a small plaque on the front fender, which clearly indicates the use of a forked twelve-cylinder under the hood. Although it already appeared in the Maybach models for 2020, for 2021 it was to be dropped from the offer, where it was replaced by a twice-supercharged V8.
The carmaker has not yet revealed any details about the new power unit for the top model, but it is generally assumed that it will be a 6.0-liter twin-turbo twelve-cylinder fork. The engine could be marked as S650 or S680, its power should be above 600 horsepower and should work with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

If speculation is confirmed that the new AMG S65 will be an eight-cylinder plug-in hybrid, then the flagship Mercedes-Maybach could become the only twelve-cylinder in the S-Class. However, it will have no shortage of competition.
Despite the declining popularity of high-volume twelve-cylinder engines and increasingly massive electrification, the Bentley Flying Spur, Rolls-Royce Ghost and the traditional rival in the form of the BMW 7 Series still offer twelve-cylinder engines. with W12 engine.
