Nyck de Vries has a wetsuit left over from his farewell Mercedes. The Sneek driver makes the switch to AlphaTauri, to join as a regular driver from next season, and has been treated to a hard and soggy goodbye by Mercedes staff.
With the last Grand Prix of the season over, it’s time for De Vries to say goodbye to Mercedes. The Dutchman has long been active as a reserve driver for the Silver Arrows, but next season he will finally get his much-desired breakthrough in Formula 1 with the AlphaTauri team. However, it was not a quiet farewell to Mercedes, as De Vries was given extensive work by the German team’s staff. The result was a wetsuit and an uncomfortable ride to the AlphaTauri garage.

Wetsuit and uncomfortable ride towards AlphaTauri for De Vries
On the Mercedes Twitter channel you can see how the Mercedes staff didn’t let De Vries’ farewell go unnoticed. With two men, they lift the driver off Sneek to the water and throw him into the puddle. But he didn’t stop there. When De Vries thought he could finally have a beer, he was grabbed and strapped onto a trolley. The Mercedes men pushed De Vries across the paddock towards the garage of AlphaTauri, his new employer, where he was dumped.
