The next Mercedes SL is being developed in collaboration with AMG and will in principle only appear on the market in 2022. It is striking that the model will finally have a soft top again to save weight and that it shares its chassis with the future GT, which should help make this the sportiest SL ever.
The latter can also be derived from the engine choice: there are one 435 hp six-cylinder, a 522 hp generating V8 biturbo and extra powerful variant of the latter block, the planning that “63 AMG” gets in its name and produces 612 hp. And if that is not enough, there are rumors about a “73 AMG”, a plug-in hybrid that unleashes over 800 hp on the wheels. We will see if it comes to that, but of course we hope so.
