Mercedes has introduced an annual subscription formula in the US that gives more power to its EQ and EQS electric cars. The subscription costs $1,200 per year before tax and will be available soon.
The subscription formula is currently available on a web page of the Mercedes online shop in the United States. The subscription is currently not yet available on the Dutch and Belgian website of the German carmaker. The subscription formula has been given the title Acceleration Increase and is intended to increase the maximum torque and horsepower of a Mercedes EQ car.
According to Mercedes, the subscription applies to select EQ EQE and EQS models. It’s unclear whether the subscription will also be available for the automaker’s future electric cars. In the case of EQ EQE 350 4MATIC, 45 kW of power are added via the subscription formula. In the EQ EQE SUV 350 4MATIC, power increases from 215kW to 260kW, with an increase of up to 45kW as well. With EQ EQS 450 4MATIC, power increases from 265kW to 330kW. That’s an increase of 65kW. The same applies to the EQ EQS SUV 450 4MATIC. Through the subscription, the acceleration rate of each of these cars would also increase further, so that the cars could drive faster from 0 to 100 km/h.
If customers have purchased the subscription formula, they can activate it via the Dynamic To selecttrip computer menu. Mercedes’ American web page says the acceleration boost costs $1,200 a year. This is the price without VAT. It is not clear whether the subscription formula can also be purchased per month.
