Mercedes has now recovered the much-discussed Brazil rear wing from the FIA. According to team boss Toto Wolff, two loose screws were the culprit behind the disqualification of Lewis Hamilton.

The seven-time world champion claimed pole position at Interlagos, but was removed from the results a few hours later due to an irregular rear wing. The opening in the DRS may be a maximum of 85 millimeters in height, with Hamilton this was more. It resulted in a disqualification, forcing the Briton to start the sprint race last. He eventually won the Grand Prix on Sunday, but nonetheless Wolff was furious about this decision.

Loose screws

Mercedes has now received the relevant rear wing back from the FIA. Wolff said from Qatar that two screws on one side of the wing had come loose during qualifying, so that it eventually no longer met the 85 millimeter rule and therefore did not pass the inspection.
