Mercedes F1 Representative “Daniel Ricardo is negotiating with Red Bull”[F1-Gate.com]

Mercedes F1 team boss Toto Wolff has revealed that Daniel Ricciardo, who is said to have been named reserve driver, is also in talks with Red Bull Racing.

Daniel Ricciardo has finally confirmed that he will not be on the grid next year. Eight-time Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo turned down an offer from the Haas F1 team for a spot in a 2023 race after losing his McLaren seat.

“I won’t be on the grid next year, but I’m here because I have ambitious goals for 2024,” said 33-year-old Daniel Ricciardo in Mexico.

Daniel Ricciardo is said to be the reserve driver of the Mercedes F1 team in 2023, replacing Nick de Vries who switched to AlphaTauri F1.
However, there are also rumors that Daniel Ricciardo is in talks with Red Bull for a similar role in 2023.

“Discussions are ongoing, but nothing has been signed yet,” said Ricciardo.

“Nothing is guaranteed for 2024, but we will do everything possible to return.”

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff confirmed that talks are underway with Daniel Ricciardo, but believes Ricciardo is also in talks with “other teams”.

“We are also in talks with Red Bull Racing,” said Wolff.

“I think he’s a great character for us, but I still can’t say who will be the third rider next season.”

“Daniel’s personality is an absolute strength, he has worked with us for a long time and knows these machines inside and out.”

“It can definitely be an advantage.”

“But I don’t want to start the rumors here. The truth is, we haven’t decided yet.”

Danieli Ricciardo made a series of overtakes and was named “Driver of the Day” at the F1 Mexican Grand Prix, which moved up to 7th place, but Yuki Tsunoda was furious at Ricciardo’s collision.

“It is frustrating to see an experienced driver like him enter an area where overtaking is virtually impossible,” said Yuki Tsunoda.
