The Mercedes F1 will make its test debut for young drivers which will be conducted at the Yas Marina circuit following the Abu Dhabi F1 GP by training driver Frederick Besti.
Frédéric Besti joined the Mercedes F1 driver development program ahead of the 2021 season and finished fourth in the Formula 3 standings.
20-year-old Dane Frederik Besti moved up to F2 at the ART Grand Prix this year and took his maiden win in a sprint race in Baku.
Frederic Besti currently holds eighth place in the championship ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.
Mercedes F1 has confirmed that Frederic Besti will be behind the wheel of the 2022-spec W13 in post-season testing at the Yas Marina circuit, fulfilling his obligations as a young driver.
Mercedes F1 named reserve driver Nick de Vries for two rookie FP1 sessions in 2022, driving the W13 in France and Mexico City.
However, Mercedes F1 has been granted permission to drive in Abu Dhabi tests for Nick de Vries, who will move to AlphaTauri in 2023, leaving a car free to evaluate Frederic Besti.
Frederic Besti will enter his second season of F2 with Prema in 2023.
