Mercedes extends the MBUX Zero Layer smart display to the latest S-Class and C-Class models

The system premiered in the EQE and EQS electric models.

The MBUX Zero Layer smart display first appeared in the EQE and EQS electric sedans. Now owners of the new C-Class (W206) and the new S-Class (W223) can also enjoy this convenience. Pre-production units will benefit from over-the-air updates, while brand-new production cars will already have the Zero Layer feature as standard equipment.

Zero Layer is a system that is supposed to bring more comfort to the driver while driving and adjusts the display according to his habits. For example, if a driver calls his wife or a colleague at the same time every day, the system will suggest a call at the time it usually occurs. This suggestion will appear at the bottom of the infotainment. Of course, the driver can refuse it temporarily or permanently, and the system will no longer offer this particular option.

“We’ve been offering over-the-air updates since 2013. We offer our customers the ability to upgrade their vehicles with the latest software whenever and wherever they want. We continuously optimize the system’s capabilities and develop new functions for the customer, which make driving Mercedes-Benz cars even more enjoyable. The Zero Layer update offers a 100% personalized and intuitive user experience with all relevant features right at your fingertips. The modern look helps to keep the vehicle with the times and, as is typical for Mercedes, preserves its value.” said Magnus Östberg, Director of Software at Mercedes-Benz AG.

In addition to the popular phone calls at a certain time, there are more than 20 additional functions that the system will offer you if they are relevant to you. This can be the Energizing Comfort function (relaxation massage, training methods, adapted ambient interior lighting…) or previous navigation destinations.

Mercedes adds that even after downloading this feature, the user can revert to their original user interface if Zero Layer is not to their liking.

It can be expected that the Zero Layer function will sooner or later be transferred to the entire model range of the Stuttgart automaker. It recently introduced rejuvenated versions of the CLA and GLE models. A new generation of the popular E-Class with the designation W214 will also arrive shortly.
