Mercedes-Benz drives 1000 km on a single battery charge with concept EV – Image and sound – News

Mercedes-Benz has managed to drive 1000km on a single battery charge with its concept EV Vision EQXX. According to the German car manufacturer, the concept car drove with an average consumption of 8.7 kWh per 100 km.

Mercedes-Benz has a test drive made with his concept car Vision EQXX. The car brand has managed to drive 1000km on a single charge. The ride went from Sindelfingen in Germany to the town of Cassis on the Côte d’Azur. On arrival, the car still had 15 percent battery charge left, according to Mercedes-Benz.

The Vision EQXX was launched by Mercedes-Benz revealed at CES earlier this year. Back then, the manufacturer already claimed that the car has an energy consumption of less than 10 kWh per 100 km. This claim now appears to be correct, because the car drove the 1000km journey with an average consumption of 8.7kWh per 100km. The journey took a total of 11 hours and 32 minutes. The maximum speed was 140 km per hour and was reached during the first part of the journey on the German autobahn.

The roof of the car is equipped with solar cells to increase the range of the car slightly. We have already seen this technology at the Dutch manufacturer Lightyear, which uses a car with solar cells develops. The Lightyear One managed to drive 710 kilometers on a single battery charge last summer. This record has now been broken by Mercedes-Benz.

Since it is a concept car, you do not have to expect that you can drive to the south of France in one go with an EV from Mercedes-Benz. However, the manufacturer wants to use the technology from this car to make its production EVs more efficient and to give them a greater range.
