Mercedes-Benz Charging Hubs: Creating New Standards in Fast and Convenient EV Charging

The German car manufacturer Mercedes has committed to selling only electric cars from 2030, completely abandoning the use of internal combustion engines in its cars, so Mercedes is also thinking about its charging network – it is planned to open the first Mercedes charging points already in October of this year, but the manufacturer’s plans are quite ambitious.

These charging stations are named “Mercedes-Benz Charging Hubs” and the first three will open in October on three different continents – Atlanta in the US, Mannheim in Germany and Chengdu in China.

By the end of next year, Mercedes wants to create around 2,000 of its charging points around the world, and in 2030 this number should reach over 10,000. The charging points will be located in Europe, North America, China and other important markets for Mercedes. Taking into account the specifics and capabilities of each specific region, Mercedes is going to offer chargers with a power of up to 400kW.

The manufacturer’s announcement states that this is how Mercedes tries to create new standards in providing fast, convenient and simple charging. The plan envisages creating these charging points in places with higher traffic intensity, as well as in individual Mercedes dealerships. It is planned that there will also be various additional facilities nearby, namely toilets, opportunities to eat and drink while resting from the journey.

These charging points will be available for electric machines from every car manufacturer, but Mercedes car owners can count on additional benefits and more favorable prices. The manufacturer has mentioned the possibility of reserving the charging place and time, thus allowing the customer to avoid the risk of long waiting times at the charging point. All these points will be included in the Mercedes in-built navigation, so they will be easy to include in the route planning.
