Neon Legacy is the joint initiative of Roger Federer and Mercedes‑Benz that has existed since 2021. Social projects are supported under the motto “Giving Back”. The sports area with a basketball court and a newly created tennis wall was inaugurated by Roger Federer and Bettina Fetzer with numerous children and young people on the occasion of the Laver Cup 2024 in Berlin.

In the run-up to the 2024 Laver Cup, Mercedes-Benz and Roger Federer unveil the latest Neon Legacy project: A renovated sports area in Berlin, expanded to include a tennis wall. The tennis wall is part of the Schlupfwinkel youth club and was designed by the artist Rommy Gonzalez with a floral motif. The opening of the tennis wall in the Berlin district of Moabit is the next project of the Neon Legacy Initiative after the renovation of a street art tennis court in London last year.

Neon Legacy, a joint initiative by Mercedes-Benz and Roger Federer, aims to Promoting young tennis talent Through various projects, Neon Legacy combines social responsibility with sport and makes it easier for children and young people to access the sport of tennis. Like the street art tennis court in London, the tennis wall in the Schlupfwinkel youth club was completely renovated and then decorated with a creative work of art to raise awareness of tennis. The Berlin-based artist Rommy Gonzalez, originally from Chile, combines her distinctive floral motifs with the sport-typical lines and markings in neon colors on the sports surface. Tennis star Roger Federer and Bettina Fetzer, Head of Communications and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz AG, opened the tennis wall together with children and young people from the youth club.

The current project of the Neon Legacy Initiative was launched in the run-up to the Laver Cup, which will take place from 20 to 22 September in Berlin Mercedes-Benz has been a global sponsor of the Laver Cup since its first edition in 2017 and is providing electric G-Classes as team vehicles for Team Europe and Team World this year. A fleet of fully electric vehicles is also available to selected guests and officials. Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Roger Federer, founder of the Laver Cup, will also be attending the tournament in Berlin in 2024.
