Whenever the letter T was used on a Mercedes, it meant a station wagon body. It will soon be necessary to distinguish carefully whether it means a station wagon, a “T-model” or a T-Class. The Stuttgart carmaker has sketched the arrival of such a novelty.

It will be a personal van, targeted at families, taxi services and car sharing services. According to the press release, it will be smaller than the V-Class and its main purpose will be to offer a high degree of practicality along with the design, safety and value of Mercedes.

The press release also says that the novelty will be developed in cooperation with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, and states that it will share the basis with the new generation of Citan vans. In its current generation, it is a Renault Kangoo with a different design.

In other words, Mercedes is preparing a new commercial vehicle, the box version of which it will call the Citan, while the personal variant will be the “T-Class”. We can expect versions with both internal combustion and electric motors and the cars are expected to come on the market in the first half of 2022.
