Mercedes-AMG One returned to the Nürburgring, significantly improved its own record – News

After two years, the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar returned to Germany’s famous Nürburgring circuit, often called the “green hell” because of its difficulty, where DTM racing driver and brand ambassador Maro Engel developed his record.

During the first attempt, when Engel stopped the tour in October 2022 with a time of 6 minutes and 35.183 seconds, the conditions were not exactly ideal. The track was wet and the machine with an F1 engine could not use its full potential.

However, that has changed this year. The car started on the way on September 23 before seven o’clock in the afternoon. The air was 15 ° C at the time, and the asphalt was 20 ° C. So the driver managed to cover the circuit in a time of 6 minutes and 29.090 seconds, improving his record by an impressive 5 seconds.

The Mercedes-AMG One was therefore considered one of the fastest road cars ever to grace the famous circuit. At the same time, it hides a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine under the hood, which in combination with four electric motors produces a combined output of 782 kW (1063 hp).

The car was set to Race Plus mode during the record lap, which lowers the ride height by 37mm at the front and 30mm at the rear. It also uses an active aerodynamics system and a DRS system, with which the hybrid system contributes significantly to the dynamics of the machine. In the undercarriage, there were standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO tires, which were developed especially for this car.
