Technically, the Indian-assembled Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe will be no different from the German one: a 390-horsepower (520 Nm) 3.0-liter gasoline V6 will remain under the hood, the transmission is a 9-speed “robot”, four-wheel drive. Despite the localization of full-cycle production, motors for AMG models in India will not be produced: power plants are imported from Germany to the plant in Chakan.
The Indian-assembled Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe will cost local customers 7 million 670 thousand rupees (8.0 million rubles), that is, the price of a cross-coupe has dropped significantly – a German-assembled crossover would approach the level of 10 million rupees.
The general director of the Indian branch of Mercedes-Benz Martin Schwenk said that the localization of production of AMG models will give the German brand a competitive advantage, although the cross-coupe has few rivals – except for the Porsche Macan GTS, the prices for which in India have not yet been announced, and the more powerful 480 -Strong BMW X3 M (from 9.99 million rupees).
