Mercedes-AMG lifted the veil from the mysterious car he designed with rapper will.i.am. The model is in the form of a coupe called will.i.AMG and is made on the platform of the GT Four-Door Coupe, but borrows stylistic elements from the cult G-Klasse.
“I grew up in a ghetto. I grew up with hip-hop. I watched legendary hip-hop artists rap for Mercedes-Benz, so I’ve always dreamed of owning one. For many children in the city, owning a Mercedes is a symbol of progress and progress outside the ghetto, “explained will.i.am. “Now I’ve achieved my goal and gone even higher by rethinking and creating my own vision for the AMG.”
Viewed from many angles, almost nothing suggests that will.i.AMG is even remotely connected to the GT Four-Door Coupe. But in fact it is a real two-door coupe and is characterized by almost the same as the G-Klasse, front with round headlights and a rectangular grille mounted in a square frame.
Look at the emblem: this is a new look at the three-pointed star that will.i.am created and is called “Bear Witness”. The only model also has ventilation holes “carved” in the two fenders, extremely long “suicide” doors and a panoramic roof panel.
Photos of the rear have not been released, but a look at the lights and the shape of the bumper suggests that will.i.AMG looks more like a GT from behind. We still don’t know what it looks like from the inside, but we do know that no major mechanical changes were made during construction.
“I didn’t touch the engine because AMG really makes the best engines,” said the rapper. AMG said that all activities around will.i.AMG will benefit the i.am.angel Foundation, which provides scholarships and opportunities in education in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).
And the collaborative project is part of a mission called The Flip, which aims to give more students from disadvantaged communities access to STEAM education. More specific details are missing, but the Bear Witness logo will appear on a line of limited-edition clothing and accessories that will be sold at the Mercedes-Benz Experience Center in Miami, Florida, and online.
Proceeds from the sale of these goods will be donated to the i.am.angel Foundation. Mercedes-AMG also said it would buy will.i.AMG from will.i.am “to support the goal of the joint project” and that part of the proceeds would be donated to the i.am.angel Foundation.
