After several threats, André Villas-Boas took action, deciding to submit his resignation after the recruitment of Olivier Ntcham, which he had not validated. OM responded by firing him. Do you think the Portuguese was right to act like this?

It is fire in Marseille. A few days after the incidents that hit the Commanderie, and the day after the closure of a restless transfer window, André Villas-Boas attended a press conference and did not fail to drop a bomb on his future. Frustrated with the current sports management, the Portuguese notably pointed the finger Pablo Longoria on the recruitment ofOlivier Ntcham, a profile he had rightly refused. To the point of submitting his resignation: ” I submitted my resignation to the management, without asking OM anything about my contract. I do not agree with sports policy and this decision making. The management has not yet answered me. I just want to leave, without asking OM for anything. My decision has nothing to do with the incidents of last Saturday. It’s fair in relation to what I want on the sporting aspects and that was not understood (…) I repeat, I don’t want money from OM, I just want to leave. He won’t have waited long for his wish to be granted. A few hours later, OM communicated their layoff: “ The Olympique de Marseille announces the dismissal as a conservatory of André Villas-Boas. This protective decision has become inevitable given the recent repetition of actions and attitudes which seriously harm the Olympic institution of Marseille and its employees who defend it daily.. »Do you understand the communication ofAndré Villas-Boas ?

Villas-Boas cracks, OM decides to lay him off

It must be said that this is not the first time that André Villas-Boas has put pressure on his management. A little over a year ago, he had clearly put his job on the line when Paul Aldridge landed. The English leader, whose OM coach had learned of the arrival in the media, was supposed to encroach on the prerogatives of Andoni Zubizarreta, to whom André Villas-Boas was close. The latter therefore recalled that he linked his future to that of the Basque. Therefore, when the former Barça sporting director left OM last May, the departure of the Lusitanian seemed to be in no doubt. He finally decided to stay, convinced by his locker room and the prospect of playing in the Champions League. But after a catastrophic European campaign, OM continued their momentum in Ligue 1, chaining poor performances to the point of compromising their chances of qualifying in C1. And while the agreement with Pablo Longoria seemed to deteriorate, André Villas-Boas, who has complained several times about the transfer window, as evidenced by his comments on Luis Henrique, saw a player land that he had refused, namely Olivier Ntcham. The straw that broke the camel’s back for the Portuguese, who therefore left OM a year and a half after his arrival and after the last six months very agitated.

In your opinion, was André Villas-Boas right to announce his resignation?
