Merapah Trans-Java 2022 Officially Begins, Crossing 867 Kilometers of Toll Roads in Four Provinces

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – After two years of being restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, travel traditions going home Eid again allowed by the Government this year.

According to a survey by the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Transportation (Balitbang Ministry of Transportation) is estimated to be 85.5 million people who will travel back and forth for Eid.

The estimated number of people who will travel back and forth is recorded to have increased from the previous Balitbang survey of the Ministry of Transportation.

In the previous survey, the number of travelers by 2022 is estimated to reach 79.4 million people.

“This is something that needs to be anticipated, considering that the figure of 85.5 million is not a small number and we have not carried out this homecoming activity for two years,” said Ministry Spokesperson Adita Irawati, Friday (8/4/2022).

To note, the figure of 85.5 million is equivalent to 31.6 percent of the total population of Indonesia.

Central Java province is the most frequent destination for the 2022 homecoming with a total of 23.5 million people or about 27.5 percent of the total homecomers.

Followed by East Java with 16.8 million people, and West Java Non-Bodebek with 14.7 million travelers.

Then, there are also travelers who are expected to travel to Greater Jakarta, which is 5.9 million people.

Followed by DI Yogyakarta as many as 3.9 million travelers, Lampung 2.7 million people, and North Sumatra as many as 2.3 million people.

Meanwhile, travelers using toll roads are predicted to experience an increase of 10.8 percent compared to the normal period, November 2021.

This is as reported by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk which estimates that the number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek on D-7 to D+7 (25 April-10 May 2022) Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H, will reach 2.54 million units.

As for the prediction of the number of vehicles entering the Jabotabek area in the same period, as many as 2.57 million units, up 12.9 percent from the normal period of November 2021.

The number of predictions is the cumulative traffic flow of the four main toll gates (GT), namely GT Cikampek Utama and GT Kalihurip Utama (direction Trans Java and Bandung), GT Ciawi (direction Puncak), and GT Cikupa (direction Merak).

Meanwhile, the peak flow of going home is estimated to occur on April 29-30 2022 at 07.00-09.00 am. Meanwhile, the peak of the homecoming return will occur on May 8, 2022, at 07.00-09.00 am.
