“The country is not a ‘shop’ of the ND, Mitsotakis and his followers”, writes MeRA25 in a statement on the occasion of the sending of promotional e-mails for the European elections by Anna Michelle Asimakopoulouwhich, as many expats complain, violates their personal data because they did not provide the addresses themselves.
“It is a scandal for the way that both she and the Ministry of the Interior perceive the issue of personal data as well as the observance of electoral legislation”, emphasizes MeRA25.
“Personal email addresses have been declared by voters during previous election processes. And of course they have been declared to the Ministry of the Interior and not to Mrs. Asimakopoulou. As for how they got into her hands, no one needs to have a very big imagination,” he explains.

“Asimakopoulou: Even faster than the staff state
The country is not a “shop” of ND, Mitsotakis and his followers.
We had no doubt about how New Democracy perceives the “staff state”. The sending of thousands (as it seems) of e-mails by MEP Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou to expatriate Greeks is a scandal for the way both she and the Ministry of the Interior perceive the issue of personal data and the observance of electoral legislation.
Several cases of citizens who received today Friday, March 1, with a difference of a few hours, an email from the Greek Ministry of the Interior, which informed them about the procedure of the postal vote in the upcoming European elections and to their same personal address, an informative – pre-election message by Mrs. Asimakopoulou in view of the European elections. Personal email addresses have been declared by voters during previous election processes. And of course they have been declared to the Ministry of the Interior and not to Mrs. Asimakopoulou. As to how they got into her hands, no one needs to have a very big imagination.
Dozens of MeRA25 members, expatriate Greeks from Britain, Sweden and elsewhere, have reported similar incidents. Even more characteristic is that Mrs. Asimakopoulou seems in most cases to have caught up with the Ministry and sent her advertising message first. In fact, in one case, for which we have attached a screenshot, Mrs. Asimakopoulou sends the official message of the Greek state just four minutes before, managing to leave no doubt about her… staff pre-election planning. (7:05 by Ms. Asimakopoulou, 7:09 by the Ministry).
Mrs. Asimakopoulou, who in the previous days ranted against the European resolution on the Rule of Law in Greece, is the best proof of how exactly the institutions and the staff state of Mr. Mitsotakis work. We call on New Democracy to expel it from its Eurogroup. We call on the government and the Ministry of the Interior to respect the personal data of the voters and to observe the electoral legislation.
The country is not and will not become a “shop” of New Democracy, of Mr. Mitsotakis and his followers.”
