MEP Rob Roos fights corona pass obligation | Inland

Since this week, visitors, employees and politicians have to show the corona pass if they want to enter the meeting halls in Brussels and Strasbourg. According to the European Parliament, the measure is proportional now that the corona figures are rising. In addition, the institute believes that the obligation can help to return to work as normal as possible indoors.

A small group of MEPs strongly oppose the obligation. They see the measure as a form of compulsory vaccination. Doing a corona test every day is an impossible task, according to the politicians.

JA21 politician Roos announced on Friday that he and four colleagues will go to the European Court in Luxembourg to challenge the decision of the daily management of the European Parliament. According to the Dutchman, the decision is, among other things, a violation of the immunity of MEPs.

Roos says that he supports measures to prevent the spread of the virus in parliament, but according to him this can also be done by extending the strict approach that was introduced more than a year ago.

It is not yet clear whether the case will be considered. The politicians are assisted by a club that is conducting a legal crusade against corona measures in Belgium. The European Parliament states that the measure is legally acceptable.
