MEP resigns after being detained at a sex party in Brussels

In late November, Brussels police detained 25 people at a sex party in a bar, Belgian media reported on December 1. Among the detainees was 59-year-old Hungarian MEP Jozsef Sayer, who resigned.

“I apologize for breaking the rules, it was irresponsible on my part. I am ready to be punished for this, “said Mr. Sayer in a statement, which cites Euronews… He denies using drugs.

The party in late November was illegal due to current anti-coronavirus measures. In addition to the deputy, two diplomats were detained at the event. The violators were released after the minutes were drawn up.

Mr. Sayer announced his resignation on November 29, before the press had yet heard of his arrest. He explained the decision by the fact that the political struggle demanded more and more tension from him. Mr. Sayer was elected from the ruling Fidesz party in Hungary.

By information Euronews columnist Darren McCaffrey, the detainees participated in a gay party. Earlier, Mr. Sayer was one of the supporters of the amendment to the Hungarian Constitution that marriage is exclusively a union of a man and a woman.
