MENU. Covid-19: which are the 42 departments classified in the red zone?

This Friday, September 11, 42 departments are classified in Red zone, that is to say in “Active traffic zone” of the coronavirus. This is what Prime Minister Jean Castex announced in his speech this afternoon, in Matignon. The list published in Official newspaper identified 28 departments, last Sunday, September 6.

The 42 departments in the red zone are: Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d’Oise, Loiret, Côte-d’Or, Seine-Maritime, North, Pas-de-Calais, Bas-Rhin, Sarthe, Maine-et-Loire, Loire-Atlantique, Ille-et-Vilaine, Gironde, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hérault, Haute-Garonne, Gard, Tarn-et-Garonne, Pyrénées- Orientales, Aude, Rhône, Ain, Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Isère, Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Vaucluse, Corse-du-Sud, Haute-Corse, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Reunion , Mayotte.

Prefects can initiate additional measures

“This classification does not have an automatic consequence, Jean Castex said on Friday. But it allows the prefect in conjunction with the health authorities and local elected officials to trigger additional risk reduction measures, in particular on wearing a mask, gatherings in public spaces, major events or the opening hours of certain businesses ”.

The head of government asked the prefects concerned to propose to him “By Monday new additional measures”.
