With a incidence rate of the Covid-19 epidemic of 208 per 100,000 inhabitants, against 234 the previous week, the circulation of the virus is declining slightly in the Rhône, according to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes epidemiological point of Public health France as of February 18.
At the scale of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and in absolute value, the number of people tested positive fell back below the 15,000 people mark over the week of February 8 to 14 (14,704).
3,907 positive cases in one week in the Rhône
In the Rhône, 56,421 people were tested that same week. 3907 were found to be positive, for a positivity rate of 6.9%. The highest positivity rate in the region remains that of Drôme, at 8.8%, followed by Ardèche (8.3%) and Ain (8.1%).

The municipalities presenting the incidence rate the highest are Givors and Solaize. These two cities have a rate of over 500 per 100,000 inhabitants, far from the alert threshold set at 50.
With a rate between 250 and 500, follow Grigny, Vernaison, Pierre-Bénite, Saint-Priest, Vaulx-en-Velin, Meyzieu, Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or, Couzon-au-Mont-d’Or, Albigny-sur-Saône and the 2nd district of Lyon.
The majority of the other municipalities in the metropolis have incidence rates of between 150 and 250.
The best pupils are the neighboring municipalities of Limonest, Lissieu and Poleymieux-au-Mont-d’Or all three of which have a rate below 50.
Proportion of English, South African and Brazilian variants
Regarding the proportion of variants suspected among positive tests for Covid-19 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 58% of these tests (9372) were the subject of a second test to detect the variants. 29.2% of these tests came back positive at English variant and 2.7% to South African variants and Brazilian. Proportions lower than the national average (37% and 5% respectively).
In the Rhône screening tests were performed for 60.6% (2,617) of the positive tests. 32.7% (856) were found to be positive for the English variant and 4.2% (111) for the South African and Brazilian variants.
The department most affected in the region is Haute-Savoie with 43.5% positive tests for the English variant, “potentially linked to a strong penetrance of this variant in the canton of Geneva (> 50% at the beginning of February)”, explains Public health France. The department of Isère follows with 34.6%.
For the South African and Brazilian variants, Savoie is the most affected department (10.6% of positive cases) followed by Cantal (4.9%).
