Mental health workers will have to reimburse the COVID-19 premium

About a hundred psychiatric intervention officers at the Pierre-Janet Mental Health Hospital in Gatineau will have to reimburse a COVID-19 premium that was paid to them in error by the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of the Outaouais (CISSSO).

These employees believed in a nice surprise when they saw a retroactive lump sum ranging from $ 3,000 to $ 4,000 being added to their paycheck last Thursday. However, it was rather a blunder of the CISSSO, because this sum was to be paid to the beneficiaries, a title that they no longer have for a year, after a reclassification of workstations.

“Our members are angry. The Prime Minister [François Legault] and the Minister of Health [Christian Dubé] should understand that these bonuses should be paid to all employees of the health network and not only to certain types of positions, ”replied the president of the Union of workers in the health and social services of the Outaouais. affiliated with the CSN, Josée McMillan.

Despite their new title, which has increased their hourly rate, intervention agents in psychiatric settings now earn less than patient attendants if we take into account the COVID-19 premium granted to attendants.

Affected employees will be required to reimburse $ 30 to $ 60 per pay period, until the overpayment is returned in full.
