Dr. Mann Abdel Maqsoud, Secretary General of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Hospitals at the Ministry of Health, confirmed that 519,506 citizens had received mental health services at the Secretariat Hospitals in the Republic from January 2020 to last December.
Dr. Mann Abdel-Maqsoud, Secretary General of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Hospitals at the Ministry of Health, said in an interview with Al-Youm Al-Sabea that 7588 psychiatric patients have been detained in the internal departments and 3610 addiction patients in the addiction department, and 42,487 children and 23,547 adolescents have visited the clinics. The geriatric clinics are 11,268 elderly persons, bringing the total number of patients to 464,066 outpatient psychiatric patients and 11,894 addiction patients.
Dr. Mann Abdel Maqsoud explained that the establishment of Sohag Hospital for Mental Health has been completed, and sections 30A and 30B have been opened in the developed men’s unit in the Abbasid Mental Health Hospital, and Section 29 has been opened in the Women’s Unit of the Abbasid Mental Health Hospital after comprehensive development, in addition to that. Development work has been completed in the Bait Al Shams pediatric unit at Abbasia Mental Health Hospital.
On the psychological support plan during the Corona pandemic, which included 3 categories, namely the medical team, patients and society in general, Dr.Manen Abdel-Maqsoud said: that a psychological evaluation service was provided inside isolation, chest and fever hospitals, and 705 patients from hospitals were debated by specialized psychiatrists under the supervision of Hospitals of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment.
