This week I finished reading a number of scientific studies dealing with depression. Among them is a major study that compared the disability that comes with depression and between two hundred different diseases and injuries, so depression ranked second after spinal pain in what is known as back pain.
Another study indicates that those suffering from depression are more likely to die early, unlike those with baby faces, as the study states, who enjoy relatively long life spans.
Why talk about depression today? A question that doesn’t want to be interrogative; Don’t forget, dear reader, that we are all caught in the crossfire these days.
Of course, there is a difference between depression caused by genetic, hormonal and environmental factors, and between depressive feelings in which events and psychological stress play the most important role, but one also cannot forget that depressive feelings in which events and psychological stress stress plays the most important factor in it can be a harbinger of depression or that it is the first degree of the disease.
It begins with a decline and apathy, a sense of frustration and the futility of any effort to get out of crises, turning into vicious circles of frustrating sophisticated debates, exposure to continuous and repeated psychological pressure, a sense of helplessness and fear of the unknown a to come.
It can really be easy to talk and get on the board stage for any speaker, but the reality is that the matter is really hard and requires quite a bit of patience and determination without backing down. Depressive feelings are no longer limited to exacerbation of personal issues, but man has become like blotting paper absorbing ink wherever he meets.
The issue went beyond private pains when national and global pains emerged in which citizens of the same country shared life difficulties and local problems, some of them even extending to the whole world, such as that pandemic and the its repercussions that have triggered a war of fear of an undoubted danger on the horizon.
The two studies focused on the circumstances, circumstances and repercussions surrounding depression. The two studies were prepared according to international standards which allowed to know the details, including that the diagnosis of depression and the availability of information about it for the average person is available in developed countries, which are differently rich in countries of the third world. Furthermore, the disability that accompanies depression differs in its forms from one society to another, although it always remains important and influential in the productivity of the society, regardless of whether it is in the North or in the South.
As far as diagnosis and treatment are concerned, these two studies testify that a small percentage receives treatments that begin with a correct diagnosis and end with treatment of all kinds. This appears evident in the stark difference between the various societies of the countries of the Western world which are relatively aware of the repercussions of depression, in which the patient can re-enter society in a healthy state, and those poor societies in which the patient is lost and the his illness, to retire from life and enter the cocoon of disability.
Dear reader: I hope you have received my message. It is a sincere invitation to recover psychological well-being and not to fall into the trap of disability, since this is undoubtedly a disability that can be reversed, and does not oblige you to face it or to adapt your life accordingly. It is a temporary disability that can be treated and dealt with as an emergency that requires a sincere effort to get rid of it.
