Mood and anxiety disorders are the most visited clinics in treatment centers
Health sources revealed to Al-Rai that the average number of new practices opened for them in the Kuwait Center for Mental Health has increased, due to the increased awareness of these diseases, the condition-related effects of the Corona pandemic, and the increase in population of Kuwait.
The sources confirmed that the three factors coincide with the Ministry’s willingness to expand mental health clinics in primary health centres, which amount to 38 clinics in different primary care centres, which have helped to raise awareness of these diseases and therefore to increase folders.
He pointed out that the average of new files in the Kuwait Center for Mental Health exceeds the barrier of 2000 files per year, although this number is subject to change, increase or decrease, from year to year, noting that new files are mainly for the patients with chronic mental illnesses, such as bipolar or schizophrenia or depression.
In the same context, sources indicated that mood and anxiety disorders account for the most frequent visits to mental health clinics in primary care centers and are the most common in society, at a rate of 30%.
