Mental Health Day: prevention and promotion activity for secondary school students
Within the framework of World Mental Health Day, a workshop was held for secondary school students with the aim of promoting care in relation to the issue.
Every October 10, World Mental Health Day is celebrated, a date that is configured as an opportunity to break prejudices and stigmas, as well as promote healthy habits to prevent mental suffering. In addition, it seeks to guarantee that the entire community has access to quality mental health services.
In this framework, the Villa María Node Health team held a workshop on mental health for 6th year students of Secondary School No. 5 “Soldado Carlos Mosto” and School No. 13 “Manuel Belgrano”. In the activity, topics related to mental health care, the identification of emotions, the tools we have in everyday life to manage discomfort and the importance of having support networks were addressed.
Through group dynamics, informative talks and spaces for reflection, young people were able to share their experiences and practices to strengthen their psychosocial well-being. Meanwhile, health professionals, specialized in the area, provided updated information about the resources available in the community for those who need support or treatment. Likewise, the importance of promoting a culture of mental health care from an early age was highlighted, promoting healthy habits and the destigmatization of problems related to the problem.
This workshop is part of a set of actions that the Villa María Node carries out to promote mental health, with the aim of reaching more and more young people and providing them with the necessary tools to face the challenges of daily life. In this sense, it is worth remembering that, among these actions, next Monday, October 14 at 2 p.m., in the Villa María Node, a mural will be painted with the slogan of promoting mental health care.
It is essential that young people have the necessary tools to take care of their overall health and be able to develop a full and healthy life. These types of activities allow us to generate spaces for dialogue and reflection, and contribute to the construction of healthier communities.
