Men’s volleyball fulfilled the Central Caribbean “debt”

Several times Cuba saw the men’s volleyball title escape in the Central American and Caribbean Games; but in San Salvador he was able to pay off a 25-year “debt”.

It was a commitment that I had with myself, an award that had been planned for a long time, and we were able to fulfill it, assured the libero Yonder García with emotion after the 3-0 victory, in this city, of the representatives of the largest of the Antilles against their counterpart from the Republic Dominican.

This result rejoices us because we are a generation that did not have a title, pointed out who has been in the Cuban team for more than a decade.

The disciples of Nicolás Vives arrived undefeated at the crown discussion at the Carlos “El Famoso” Hernández sports palace, a team enrolled in the League of Nations and that shortly after the confrontation left for the United States to play in the third week of that commitment.

For those of us who have been playing in the last month, the tournament was below that level; the teams presented few important figures that perhaps could demand more from us, asserted the assistant Miguel Ángel López.

But each one gave the maximum of their abilities and we left with the victory; something that we could not do in Barranquilla 2018, where we arrived with less experience, he pointed out.

It was an interesting competition; we felt more secure and confident that we could achieve victory, said assistant Marlon Yant.

The change in the League is felt, but we do not underestimate the rival; the important thing is the joy and combativeness of the team, he pointed out.

Some of the players are tired, but we regulate ourselves a bit in certain games, he pointed out.
