“Men’s legs under shorts, those are particularly failed tree trunks,” Maarten grumbles. The studio falls silent for a bit, after which there is a chuckle. “Paul wears a lot of shorts,” notes Humberto. “He has very nice legs, so it’s allowed,” Debbie stands up for her friend. “Yes, they can be seen,” Humberto agrees.
Paul himself smiles and says: “Everyone has an opinion, right?” But Maarten does not stop there.
Rather than providing a socially desirable response, the historian continues, “Well, that’s more than an opinion.” Sheepish laughter ensues and Humberto, uneasily, continues the show. Fortunately, Paul is a sports enthusiast and it remains cozy at the talk show table.
