Jakarta –
Three men’s doubles dominate the top eight of the ranking list Race To Finals 2023 which has just been released Badminton World Federation (BWF) as of October 31, in the 44th week.
This year’s BWF World Tour Finals will take place in Hangzhou, 13-17 December 2023. This season’s closing tournament will have a prize pool of 2 million US dollars.
The importance and magnitude of the prizes on offer means that many athletes compete to collect points in order to qualify for the tournament. Not surprisingly, only eight players or pairs from five sectors can compete in the tournament and each country is only allowed to send two representatives.
So, currently in Indonesia, specifically for men’s doubles, there are three representatives who are included in the list of the top eight in the current ranking standings.
The first position is occupied by Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto with 90,740 points. These points are an accumulation of the points they got throughout the 2023 season tournament results.
Meanwhile, the second representatives are Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Leo Rolly Carnando in seventh place with 80,800 points and eighth with 75,610 points.
Even though they have entered the top eight, the positions of both of them still have the opportunity to change with the results of the next tournament or ahead of the World Tour Finals.
Moreover, another Indonesian representative, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, only had a slight difference in points from Leo/Daniel. The Daddies follow in ninth place currently.
Apart from men’s doubles, Indonesia is also safe in the men’s singles sector through Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie. Meanwhile, in the other three sectors, namely women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles, they still have to fight hard to get into the top eight.
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is currently in ninth position with 72,820 points. He dropped one level following his gains in the previous tournament and then often lost in the early rounds.
Meanwhile, in women’s doubles, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, although their position has risen to ninth place, cannot be said to be safe.
From the mixed doubles number, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja is currently still in a better position than the three Indonesian pairs. They are ranked 14th Race To Finals 2023 Meanwhile.
