Menpora Dito Ariotedjo responding to the rioting of fans that occurred in Liga 1 2023/2024. He talked about the discourse of stopping the competition because of this problem.
This season fans can not watch away games at Liga 1. This is part of the transformation of Indonesian football after the Kanjuruhan Tragedy where FIFA is also monitoring developments.
One of the agreements reached by PSSI and FIFA is a ban on fans attending away matches. But from three weeks Liga 1 that has been running, there are still fans who come to away games.
In fact, one of the matches ended in chaos, as happened when Persik Kediri hosted Arema FC. The match at the Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri, Saturday (15/7/2023), was marked by the presence of Arema fans, which in the end sparked a commotion between the supporters.
“Yes, this is being responded to and discussed with PSSI, until there is talk of stopping, yes, but this is again the best discussion. I hope this will come back again. Hopefully, let’s really watch this football, we focus on the substance, namely football,” said Here told reporters at his office, Tuesday (18/7/2023).
“We know that there are usually a lot of variables in these fans. I hope the fans can take care of fellow supporters, be it from one team or another. Let’s take care of our football together. Because it’s a pity if it stops, the teams that have been practicing, not a few spending funds, we know that preparations for being home and away are very expensive,” he added.
Menpora Dito Ariotedjo also advised fans to obey the old rules during the transformation of national football. Previously PSSI had indicated that the restrictions on the presence of supporters could be lifted at any time if there were no significant incidents.
“So I want to invite the fans to take care of it together. Because what I said is success cannot come from one party, but this is cooperation and also the togetherness of all parties, let’s take care of it together,” said Dito.
Previously, PSSI Ketum Erick Thohir had also conveyed the same thing. He emphasized that there had not been a point deduction for the club because of the stubborn fans.
