Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) RI Zainuddin Amali he denied the statement of the group of supporters Aremania who suspect mortality data the tragedy of Kanjuruhan reach 200 people.
Zainudin Amali said all parties should adhere to official government figures which so far mention 125 people who died in the Kanjuruhan tragedy. According to him, the data could not have been manipulated by the government because if that happened, the victim’s family would protest.
“No, that’s impossible. It’s easy if something isn’t included in the data, the family will definitely scream,” Zainudin told Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital on Tuesday (4/10).

The data, he said, was taken from hospitals in Malang Raya which received reports for the victims after the incident. The validity of the data must have been checked.
“And the hospitals, the doctors, are putting their credibility at risk. Now is the era of transparency. I think we should just keep the government data for 125 people. And that’s a recap,” Amali said.
He said, if there is additional data, it will definitely be logged. In addition, the regents and mayors of Malang were asked to register their citizens in case of casualties.
“If there is data, they will surely appear and yesterday the regent and the mayor were asked to list the citizens,” he said.
“Please wait until the results of the work of the Joint Independent Fact-Finding Team (TGIPF) don’t make assumptions first. So don’t get confused,” he said.
On the other hand, fan groups from Arema or Aremania recorded a higher number of victims than those released by the police or the government.
Aremania said many deaths were not recorded because the deceased were immediately taken home to their families and friends after the accident and did not have time to be taken to the hospital.
One of Aremania’s representatives, Dadang Indarto, said that since his organization’s first findings, the death toll in the Kanjuruhan stadium tragedy could be over 200.
“If the figures released by the government are currently 125 dead, we estimate there will be more. According to our estimate, it will be over 200,” Dadang told Malang on Monday (3/10).
Dadang said the estimated figure was an initial discovery after his group received information from the Aremania Malang Raya and its surroundings.
On this basis, Aremania has also formed an independent fact-finding group, tasked with collecting data on the deaths of victims from across the region.
“We have formed the Aremania Fact Finding Team, we will synchronize it later. We will communicate between regions not only in Malang Raya. From Banyuwangi, Madiun, Pasuruan, Blitar, Kediri and Jombang,” he said.
