Acting Minister of Sports Muhadjir Effendy responding to the news that Peru is hosting U-20 World Cup replacing RI following the cancellation of the drawing in Bali. Muhadjir has not heard the news for sure. He is still waiting for confirmation from PSSI.
“Not yet. We are still waiting for confirmation from PSSI,” Muhadjir told reporters at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (28/3/2023).
Muhadjir said FIFA understood the issue of canceling the draw in Bali. He was then sure that there would be no sanctions as scary as the public imagines.
“What is clear, God willing, FIFA really understands Indonesia and there won’t be that. Hopefully, yes. There won’t be any imaginable, scary sanctions. Hopefully,” he said.
Muhadjir clarified that there was no cancellation of the U-20 draw in RI, but a delay. This is because not all of the 6 locations determined in RI declared a rejection.
“That’s a delay, not a cancellation,” he said.
“Not all of the planned locations for 6 and 6 have said they have refused,” he continued.
Furthermore, Muhadjir said that FIFA had accommodated the requirements put forward by RI regarding the holding of the U-20 World Cup. However, he has not provided a description of what conditions FIFA will accommodate.
“Yes. Yes, wait for the announcement from FIFA. God willing, it will not be as scary as the analysis shows. In the near future (it will be announced),” he said.
