Mendy Career The New Chelsea Goalkeeper: Was Unemployed

London

New goalkeeper career trail Chelsea Edouard Mendy so winding. He was once unemployed, but his struggles got up to take him to Stamford Bridge.

Mendy has just been introduced by Chelsea as their new signing on Thursday (24/9). The Blues reportedly have to spend 20 million pounds to redeem the Senegalese national team goalkeeper from Rennes.

The 28-year-old seems immediately projected to become Chelsea’s main goalkeeper. This is because Kepa Arrizabalaga gets a lot of attention because he is considered to be bad. Chelsea are interested in bringing Mendy after he appeared charming in the Rennes goal last season.

He recorded 78.4 percent saves which was the third best in the French League last season. Even so, Mendy’s luster was not achieved easily. This winding road must be taken by the man who was born in Le Havre, France.

Mendy started his career in the French third division team, Cherbourg in 2011. In the midst of his struggle to become the main goalkeeper at Cherbourg, bad luck overtook him. Cherbourg was relegated twice in a row starting in the 2013/2014 season until Mendy’s contract had to be terminated.

This then brought Mendy to rock bottom. However, he refused to give up until he embraced the success he is today.
