Under the motto “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join and save lives”, this year the day that was established to make the population aware of the importance of donating blood was commemorated.
Every June 14, World Blood Donor Day is celebrated. This day was established in order to make the world population aware of the need for safe blood and blood products, highlighting the committed contribution that voluntary blood donors make to health systems and particularly to those who need it. That is why this year the World Health Organization established as its motto “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join and save lives.”
During this date, the Hemotherapy Services of the Notti y Carrillo Hospital carried out an important blood collection in the facilities of the pediatric effector, which was declared of provincial interest by the Chamber of Senators of the province.
The person in charge of granting the distinction was the provincial senator and dentist, Fernanda Sabadin, who expressed her great commitment to public health: “I feel very committed to this type of campaign, which I consider fundamental. Particularly, this year’s motto impacted me a lot, because I know what happens as health teams with blood donations; if the whole society had the habit of donating twice a year we would have a dream reserve for the province, since a donor can help four people with such a great act of love”.
The head of the Notti Hemotherapy Service, Fabiana Vargas, meanwhile, thanked all the donors who came and who do so regularly. She also took the opportunity to thank the legislator for supporting the campaign “because this helps us make the population aware of the importance of donating blood.”
