“Men with Harris”, the new initiative of the campaign to mobilize Latino men

Washington, Oct 9 (EFE).- The campaign of the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, announced this Wednesday the launch of “Men with Harris”, a new initiative aimed at mobilizing Hispanic men in key states for the elections of the November 5.

The objective of the campaign is to directly address that group of voters, in which former president and Republican candidate Donald Trump is managing to erode the historic Democratic dominance and attract support, according to polls.

To accompany the launch of this initiative, the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, will hold a rally this Wednesday in Phoenix (Arizona) with legislator Rubén Gallego, a veteran of the Iraq war and who in these elections aspires to win one of Arizona’s two seats in the Senate.

The Mexican actor Jaime Camil, recognized for his roles in the soap operas “La fea más bella” or “Por ella soy Eva”, as well as the American series “Jane the Virgin”, will participate in this event.

“Men with Harris” will hold more events until Election Day in different locations in the key states of Arizona and Nevada, where 25% and 22% of voters are Latino, respectively.

There will also be events in two key places in the state of Pennsylvania with a large Latino population: Philadelphia, with 14% Latinos, and the Lehigh Valley, with cities like Allentown, where 54% of residents are Hispanic.

Each of the stops in those cities will feature members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, digital creators and celebrities such as actors Aaron Domínguez, Al Madrigal and Guillermo Díaz, and baseball player Nick González.

The events will be held at Latino-owned small businesses, sports bars, barbecue restaurants, union headquarters and other community venues with the goal of meeting Latino men “where they are” and encouraging them to vote for Harris, the campaign explained.

Specifically, the goal is for conversations to focus on the issues that matter most to Latino communities: health care, lowering the cost of living and the economy.

The launch of this group is part of the campaign’s strategy to reach Latino voters who could be decisive in these elections, since polls predict an especially tight race between Harris and Trump in most of the seven key states (Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona).

This same Thursday, Harris will participate in a televised meeting with voters in Las Vegas (Nevada) organized by the Univisión network, and today Walz will participate in an interview with Telemundo in Arizona.

The campaign has spent huge sums of money on ads targeting the Latino community, including $3 million for radio ads alone during Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15.
