ENSCHEDE – The police have arrested three men after assaulting special investigating officers (boas) in Enschede. They would have been kicked and beaten. The incident happened last Saturday. The police released it on Wednesday.

At about 09:00 am on Saturday morning, the police received a report that boas had become the target of violence on the Zuiderhagen in Enschede. The police arrested a 19-year-old man from Enschede in the act.

On the run
Two other people ran away. They would have run away in the direction of Korte Haaksbergerstraat.

Chase through rooftops and through gardens
After a chase through roofs, over fences and through gardens, the police managed to arrest a second suspect, another 19-year-old man from Enschede. The third person managed to escape.

However, he turned himself in at the police station on Monday. This 23-year-old man from Enschede was subsequently arrested for assault and public violence.

Car destroyed
The incident arose after two suspects allegedly smashed into a car. The boas then asked the men to show their ID cards. Then they took off.

The boas managed to track down one of the suspects. A second suspect, however, came to the aid of his buddy, so that he could escape arrest. A third person came running from afar and mistreated one of the boas in such a way that it had to be treated in hospital.

Also suspected of assaulting car owner
The same third suspect also allegedly assaulted the owner of the aforementioned car while the two other persons had already been handed over to the police.
