Women in Mexico are more compliant in the payment of their credits with the bank for which they have lower levels of delinquency than men, revealed a report from the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV).
Thus, in the mortgage credits They presented an average delinquency rate of 2.6 percent in 2021, lower than the 3.6 percent of men.
In credit cards, the rates were 3.6 and 3.9 percentrespectively, while in payroll loans the past due portfolio of women represented 1.8 percent, against 2.7 percent of men.
The exception was in personal loanswhere the non-payment of loans to women was higher than that of men, with 6.6 and 6.4, respectively.
Data from the CNBV indicate that 45 out of every 100 pesos in housing loans were granted to women in 2021; 42 percent of the portfolio is in credit cards, and 43.2 percent in payroll loans.

According to the Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, some analyzes show that if the contribution of the women to the economy of the country was equal to that of men in participation rate, the GDP per capita would be 22 percent higher.
“By having more women participating in the economy, talent is used and this has implications for Mexico’s potential product,” she emphasized during the signing of the Public-Private Interinstitutional Coordination and Collaboration Agreement for the installation of the Interinstitutional Committee for Gender Equality in Financial Entities.
Victoria Rodríguez Ceja, Governor of the Bank of Mexico, agreed with Ramírez de la O, in that the greater labor participation of women has powerful economic reasons to promote it since a greater number of women in the labor market contributes to improving the efficiency of companies and institutions.
