Men mobilized in Russia will have the right to have their sperm frozen for free

Russian soldiers mobilized for war in Ukraine will have the right to have sperm frozen and stored in cryobanks free of charge, the Kremlin-controlled TASS news agency reported Wednesday.

TASS, referring to the President of the Russian Union of Lawyers Igor Trunov, reports that the Ministry of Health of Russia supported his request for financial support for the implementation of this plan.

The ministry provides for the possibility of receiving financial support from the federal budget for free sperm storage for citizens mobilized to participate in the war in Ukraine from 2022 to 2024, Trunov said.

Families will also be able to use the stored material free of charge if provided for by compulsory medical insurance.

To provide reinforcements for the war in Ukraine, Russia announced a partial mobilization in September, recalling more than 300,000 troops.

Wanting to avoid mobilization, hundreds of thousands of men left Russia.
