The popular Memtest86 + memory test program received an update for the first time in nine years. Furthermore, the entire program was rebuilt from the ground up for uefi and for the recognition of DDR4 and DDR5.
Memtest86 + has received a great update to version 6.00. This is the first update the tool has had since 2013, when the tool was split and a part was sold to the PassMark company. Nothing has happened to the development of the tool since then. Memtest86 + has since been made open source available under the GPL license. The tool dates back to the 1990s and has always been one of the best known software for testing memory in PCs.
The manufacturers rewrote the entire code-behind with version 6.00 so that it now supports both 32-bit and 64-bit UEFI. Additionally, the tool can finally recognize DDR4 and DDR5 memory, making Memtest practically useful for most average first-time users in a long time.
The tool now also supports AMD Zen architecture for chips between Ryzen 1000 and 7000, as well as for XMP 3.0 and Sdram. Users must disable Secure Boot and boot the tool from an active USB stick if they wish to use it. The code is still available open source.
