Memphis Native Soars to "The Voice" Finale
The stage lights blaze, the music crescendos, and a Memphis soul takes center stage. Jeremy Beloate, a Bartlett-born vocalist now captivating audiences across the nation on NBC’s "The Voice," is one step closer to claiming the coveted title.
Tuesday night’s nail-biting results show cemented Beloate’s position among the final five contestants vying for the season 26 crown. It’s a journey driven by sheer talent, evident in every note he’s belted out throughout the competition.
Beloate, member of Snoop Dogg’s team, has honed his craft since his childhood in Bartlett. Singing his way through local productions at Theatre Memphis and Playhouse on the Square, his talent blossomed.
Moving to New York City, he immersed himself in the city’s vibrant theatre scene, landing a lead role in a musical by "American Idol" alum and YouTube star Todrick Hall. But Beloate’s "Voice" journey has taken his talent to a whole new level.
Monday’s performance, a soulful rendition of Tom Jones’ classic "I (Who Have Nothing)," earned a standing ovation from all four judges – a testament to Beloate’s exceptional vocal prowess.
Gwen Stefani, visibly moved, lauded him as a "rare" vocalist. "There’s nothing, nobody like you. It’s almost like you’re too good to sing songs," she declared.
In another breathtaking performance, Beloate joined fellow contestant Sofronio Vasquez in a captivating duet of The Police’s "Every Breath You Take," with none other than Sting himself joining them on stage.
The experience left Beloate overwhelmed, sharing a heartfelt embrace with his mentor, Snoop Dogg.
As Beloate prepares for the final showdown, the eyes of Memphis, and indeed the nation, are fixed on him. The finale, airing December 9th and 10th on NBC (and streaming on Peacock) promises a thrilling culmination to his inspiring journey. Will Memphis’ own bring home the "Voice" crown? Only time will tell.
