Memphis Depay it’s solid. He just set a new record through his two goals when Dutch ran over Gibraltar 6-0. Top!
Memphis to be a starter in continuation Euro 2022 World Cup Qualifiers Group G at De Kuip, Tuesday (12/10/2021) early morning WIB. Memphis was paired with Steven Berghuis and Noa Lang in front.
Memphis became the architect of Holland’s first goal in the ninth minute when Virgil van Dijk’s corner was headed home by Virgil van Dijk at the near post. After that, Memphis could have scored the second Dutch goal had the penalty not failed in the 18th minute.
Two minutes later, Memphis paid for the missed penalty with a goal that doubled the Dutch advantage. Memphis then managed to execute his second penalty at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Memphis did not add a goal but made one assist for the last Dutch goal from Donyell Malen’s feet. The Netherlands won 6-0 and Memphis was named the best player of the game.
The score of two goals and two assists is proof. Throughout this qualification, Memphis did appear sharp with nine goals and eight assists from eight matches!
Memphis’ first goal also set a new record as the sharpest Dutch player for a calendar year, namely 13 goals, surpassing Patrick Kluivert’s record in 2000. Memphis also has a total of 14 goals so far this year and no one can match it.
There are other good statistics that accompany Memphis’ steady performance when it comes to total goals and assists this year, only losing to Robert Lewandowski (58), Lionel Messi (52), and Erling Haaland (51).
Memphis Depay involved in 48 goals, equal to Kylian Mbappe and two goals ahead of Karim Benzema. Unfortunately, Memphis is not included in the list of 30 candidates for the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
