Many of us take medications on a daily basis to control cholesterol.
Unfortunately, this is a problem that afflicts many, and which, in the long run, could create some problems.
When we talk about “cholesterol”, we refer to that fat molecule which, if normally present in the blood, collaborates in the regular functioning of our organism.
When its levels get high, however, it can become a risk factor affecting heart disease. For this reason it is essential to keep this situation monitored, following 2 fundamental rules.
The two basic rules for controlling cholesterol
The first rule is to have a healthy, varied and balanced lifestyle and diet, made up of the healthiest foods. The risk of high cholesterol, for example, could drop dramatically for those who consume this very crunchy bread.
The second rule, however, is to always carefully follow the instructions of our doctor. In fact, among the most used drugs for the treatment of cholesterol, there are statins.
These act on cholesterol levels and in part also on triglyceride levels, reducing the risk of diseases such as heart attacks or angina pectoris. Like any drug, however, statins can also have some side effects, in particular situations.
Memory loss, mental confusion, and weight gain could all happen to anyone taking this cholesterol medication
Also part of the statin class isAtorvastatinwhich works by reducing bad (LDL) cholesterol and increasing good (HDL) cholesterol.
This drug is usually taken by mouth. There are already many people who use it, obviously on medical prescription.
Be careful in these cases
We remind you that each drug, in addition to the positive effects, could cause some unwanted reactions, regularly reported on the relative leaflets.
Rarely, in fact, following the intake of Atorvastatin there may be cases of memory loss and a state of confusion, but also weakness or weight gain.
There may also be problems with urination, such as a real reduction in urination or passing dark urine. Very sporadically, in fact, this drug could also cause kidney failure.
Here are other possible side effects
In less severe cases, you may also have episodes of diarrhea, mild nausea, or muscle aches.
It should be borne in mind that each drug has possible side effects, which occur rarely and under special circumstances. Memory loss, mental confusion, in particular, may even require the drug to be discontinued.
In these cases, therefore, it is important to immediately consult your doctor to inform him of the event and decide how to proceed.
