BRATISLAVA. Veterans remember the old days, when incredibly crowded trams used to go to Slovan Bratislava’s home matches, some fans even hung out of the door.
Thursday had the feel of old times again. “The last time I experienced such a full tram was during socialism,” said a man in his sixties, shaking his head.
He stood on tiptoes in the tram, unable to move. After the match, there was such a crowd on Vajnorská street near the stadium that many could not even fit on the public transport.
The arena at Tehelno polí resembled the Premier League. There was sometimes a 30-meter line in front of the jersey store. Children, women, pensioners, everyone was waiting.
“Stop,” said the SBS-kar between the doors.
He let the customer in only when someone came out in the meantime. Piece for piece. However, the smaller tin shed in front of the modern arena spoiled the impression.
The fan shop in other modern arenas is usually part of the stadium and looks more dignified, spacious and practical.
