Recently, the market town of Gratwein-Straßengel congratulated Maria Posch on her 106th birthday. At this time, the community looked back on their entire lives.
GRATWEIN ROAD ANGEL. Mayor Doris Dirnberger and local councilor Andrea Neundlinger took the opportunity to personally surprise the birthday child with a bouquet of flowers and express their best wishes. Maria Posch is now one of the oldest Styrians.
Joy and together
Thanks to her son, Johann Heinz Posch, the market town was able to look back on the impressive life of Maria Posch. She was born on September 30, 1918 in the Weiz area under the name Maria Strassegger, the daughter of the master bakers Franz and Mathilde Strassegger, before the end of the monarchy. Growing up in a lively household with a total of five siblings and many employees, she experienced a childhood full of joy and loyalty.
Her passion for baking grew early and was further strengthened by a work trip to Germany in 1938. But life was interrupted by the start of the Second World War. While her four brothers were drafted into the Wehrmacht, Maria continued to run the family bakery with her father.
Love and career
After the war she found true love in Johann Posch, a trained gardener whom she met in Kapfenberg in 1946. The two married on her birthday, 30 September. The family grew rapidly and together they moved to Gratwein-Straßengel in 1956, where they established a market garden.
The hard work and loyalty of the family led to the success of the business, which continues today with their son Heinz and his wife Monika. Maria Posch was always a loving mother to her four children who cared for her family with great passion. Her ability to handle everything with joy and love is still admirable to this day.
