This Sunday several hundred faithful were gathered in the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church in Laning-Lixing-lès-Saint-Avold. They attended the last service celebrated by Father Christophe Dibo, a priest serving the parish for 7 years, who is appointed to Forbach.
Before his departure, he wished to dedicate his last mass to the memory of Father Jean-Michel Schang, parish priest of Pirmasens in the Palatinate in Germany. This ecclesiastic was born in Lixing-lès-Saint-Avold in 1757. He died in 1842 in his town of exercise. Father Schang was a virtuous parish priest in the social service of his parishioners according to ancient writings.
A baptized and blessed place
In agreement with the factory council and the mayors of the communes of Laning-Lixing, a commemorative plaque is affixed to the parking lot in front of the church. Father Jean-Michel Schang’s place was blessed and baptized by Christophe Dibo, delighted! A delegation from the parish of Pirmasens, led by Father Johanes Pioth, parish priest of the town, took part in this solemnity.
Mayors Dominique Gross and Robert Bintz thanked Father Christophe Dibo for all that he accomplished during these years as pastor of the parish of Laning-Lixing. They wished him, on behalf of all the parishioners, an excellent adaptation to his new destination.
