Memoirs of a Syrian girl emerging from under the rubble to tell a “sad story”

She remained under the wreckage and her memoirs came out to tell about her.. A new, heart-rending tragedy, the heroine of which is a Syrian girl whose fate is still unknown, but her memoirs and the certificates of appreciation she received from her school ensured that she and her story were known.

Rescue workers of the “White Helmets” organization, which is searching for survivors under the rubble in northern Syria, after the devastating earthquake that struck it and neighboring Turkey, found a diary of a child who appears to be still missing under the rubble.

The notebook reflected the magnitude of the tragedy that the Syrians have experienced since the outbreak of the war more than 10 years ago, and the extent of its impact on children and the wounds it leaves on their psyche.

The “White Helmets” published pictures of a page of those diaries, in which the girl talks about “the advent of Eid,” pointing out that “the joy of Eid” no longer exists, and she recalls the “gathering of family and friends” that she misses.

The notebook was found in the ruins of a building in the city of Jandris, north of Aleppo, while the girl wrote on the top of the page, “Shamia and my heart is iron…from Harasta in particular,” which means that she is most likely a displaced person who left their cities as a result of the war.

On another page, the little girl wrote: “My desire for everything has died,” and “in pain and laughter.”

It is clear from the girl’s formulation of speech and the way she wrote that she was one of the outstanding students in school, and this is exactly what was documented by the certificates of appreciation that were found with the rest of the papers, which were addressed to a student named “Sarah”.

Commenting on these notes, the volunteer in the “White Helmets”, Muhammad, said: “The sight of the notebooks burned my heart. Oh God, the whole world felt heavy on my chest, as I remembered my children.”

He continued, “I tried not to linger, even for a moment, during the search, hoping that we would extract a child, a woman, or a father and return him to his family,” according to a tweet published by the organization on its Twitter account.

These pictures aroused the sympathy of many, and a Twitter user commented on them by saying: “Oh, my Lord, her feast in Heaven will be more beautiful.”
